White Fillings, Inlays and Onlays

In the past, teeth were most commonly repaired with amalgam (silver) fillings. Thanks to advances in modern dental techniques and materials, teeth can now be restored with a natural looking material.

There are different types of cosmetic fillings currently available at Stephen Chimes Dentistry in Rose Bay. The type used will depend on the location of the tooth and the amount of tooth structure that needs to be restored.

Composite (white) fillings

As advances in dental materials and technologies occur, dental techniques are continuously being revolutionised to create more natural and aesthetically pleasing smiles, which can really affect our personal presentation and appearance.

One of these advances is white fillings which have surpassed previously used amalgam ones as they create less wear on your other teeth, do not distort in temperature changes, and can be coloured to match your existing teeth.

Even with an effective oral care routine, most people will require a filling at some point in their lives. This is often the result of either decay or injury. Regardless, our skilled staff at Stephen Chimes Dentistry are in a position to offer experienced, efficient, comfortable and quality dental solutions. Moreover, our team are also able to replace old amalgam fillings and update your smile.

If you require a filling or want an amalgam one replaced, contact our dedicated team to arrange a consultation.

Porcelain Inlays and Onlays

Porcelain is a stronger material than composite. It is used when there is a large amount of tooth that needs to be restored.

At Stephen Chimes Dentistry we utilise CEREC, the latest in porcelain technology to create highly accurate restorations such as inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges in a single visit. This is particularly great for the patient experience as the CEREC machine negates the need to for a second appointment which is generally required when the creation of restorations is outsourced.

This type of restoration is more expensive than the composite filling, but is longer lasting and can prevent fracturing of the teeth.

If you feel you may require a filling, inlay or only contact our friendly team at Stephen Chimes Dentistry in Rose Bay to arrange a consultation.
